Downtown Jebel Ali
Downtown Jebel Ali is a flagship development that
defines the next generation of urban design. Everything has been created
with peop le in mind, so the spaces between buildings – streets,
plazas, parks – are as important as the structures themselves.
Set on an 11km stretch of Sheikh Zayed Road, Downtown Jebel Ali will
cover more than 200 hectares in the heart of the most dynamic and strategically
significant part of Dubai. With over 300 buildings, Downtown Jebel
Ali consists of four quarters. Each provides a complete range of services
for businesses, residents and retailers, and has three distinct districts:
- The Urban Centre: characterised by modern towers and grand covered
spaces with a plaza at its centre
- The Trellis District: comprising mid-rise buildings, shaded sidewalks,
plazas and parks
- Medina: low-rise, Arabian-inspired courtyards and cobbled streets
Downtown Jebel Ali recognises the need for balance – between
work and leisure, family and friends – and is founded on the
principles of how people want to live and how communities wish to flourish.
Development and construction of Downtown Jebel Ali is underway. The
Galleries, in Zone 1, consist of eight commercial and residential buildings
built and managed by Limitless. Construction of the first four buildings
will be completed in mid 2008.
